Hi Bear, I came a looking from your message over @ Troll's blog. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L images of the Northern lights. I've only seen them once, when I was up @ Denali in Alaska and it was breathtaking. I really love the shot of the Northern lights from space...or is that art instead of a photo?

Wow...just Wow. Those lights look quite eerie as well as being breath taking. I enjoyed that clip especially the part near the end with the time delay camera.

Wow. Stunning. I saw the Northern Lights once, about ten years. Here in New Mexico, if you can believe it. I woke up at about 2am to notice this strange red glow in the sky outside my window. My first thought: "Oh shit, someone dropped the bomb." I woke my husband, but he was singularly unimpressed. So I got in the car and drove out to the top of the hill behind our house (we lived in a remote mountainous spot at the time). Then it hit me, I was looking at the northern lights. Absolutely incredible. I felt like the only person on earth.

I love seeing pics of the Aurora. Sometimes when the conditions are just right, sometimes I can see just a hint of them here in Western New York. I wonder if the Souther Aurora is just as spectacular?

It's the Southern Aurora in the south, but it's too far south to see from Aus.
The 'sleeper' train that ran between Melbourne and Sydney was called the Southern Aurora.
