I love this use of videos for your mute. My Mother's family is from upstate NY and her father worked in NYC in the 30's/40's. She told us many stories growing up of visiting the City (see even went to the 1939 World's Fair), and seeing these videos makes me realize that it's always been an amazing place. Happy Mute Monday!

Very cool old stuff. What a treasure. It's weird that people walked and skated with such a herky-jerky motion in the old days, ain't it?

Happy Mute Monday!

Very cool vids – it's been a great city since its birth. Happy Mute Monday!

I get it, old New York. Nice vids. I only live about 2 hours away from the city but rarely go there. The traffic is way worse than whats in your videos.

Happy MM!

Is is okay to leave a comment on Mute Monday? Or do I get a break because it's still Sunday here.

I'm going to come back and look at the videos when it's okay to talk. I'm actually working on something that takes place in the '30s and have been looking for something to make it more real to me, other than the Depression part.

Boxer:
Thanks, Boxer, I've been to the US a number of times but, alas, never to New York.

Troll:
...and not only that, Troll, but every man woman and child had a penchant for dressing in shades of grey (gray).

Moi:
It sure has.

Buzz:
I actually tried to find a new Old York but couldn't.

LifePundit:
Since when have you needed an invite to comment on anything I do, Anne? I tried to get videos of the 'every day' and steer clear of the Depression and the World Fair of '39. There's actually a few videos of street scenes where the camera is just static, and a great one of the fish market in about 1903, but most of them went too long for my purpose.

ALL:
Thank you all for your comments, and happy MM to each of you.

Fantastic! I'd love to visit NYC as a grown-up. And ha on the York in Western Australia ... you should post about that place anyway!
