Coles Phillips is a favourite illustrator of mine and I knew he illustrated Liberty among many other magazines of the roaring 20s. But didn't realise how few, so I had to stretch it out, in a kind of related way, to include other illustrations of his.
I am a huge fan of art deco, everything 20's and this was a lovely way to see "Liberty" this week. Thank you! Coles Phillips captured the essence of the roaring 20's and clearly loved his women. What a great Mute.
Life, Liberty and.... where's the persuit of happiness? I never realized there was a Liberty Magazine but it looks similar to the Saturday Evening Post. Nice collection of covers.
There's always so much to learn about ourselves from looking at vintage commercial illustration. These are beautiful and fascinating. Happy Mute Monday!
Makes me nostalgic for a place and time I've never been.
Fascinating and beautiful. Was that a real stamp? I never saw it before and what a shame. I could identify with the woman. I guess postage didn't stay at a mere 34 long enough for me to see the stamps.
I also loved the scenes from everyday life. I'm fascinated by a time when you drove your car onto the beach to go swimming. (Every time I've ever been in a vehicle on the beach it was not only illegal but we got stuck.)
If I had participated, which I never do, I would have posted a picture of an overscheduled calendar completely crossed out. Then followed it with a pic of yours truly riding my bike in the sunshine and breeze.
I cant help about the shape I'm in.
I cant sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin.
But don't ask me what I think of you I might not give the answer that you want me to.
Now, when I talked to God I knew he'd understand.
He said, stick by me and I'll be your guiding hand.
But don't ask me what I think of you I might not give the answer that you want me to.
Oh well.

Excellent! I struggled with this one, but you took it to an unexpected place.

Tonight's Troll Poll (a few hours) can be answered by foreign elements. Even Aussies.
